Pocket Funk Collective (PFC) is an independent music collective from Lübeck, Germany, founded by producer Heyko Hollwedel. It releases eight artist projects across funk, soul, disco, house and hip-hop, each with its own sound and visual world.
IN DETAIL
Pocket Funk Collective brings human musical creativity and modern production technology together. Founder Heyko Hollwedel, born in the 1960s and shaped by seventies disco and soul, funk, the early German b-boy scene and house culture, develops every artist project and makes the creative and musical decisions.
The three flagship projects stand for three different sound worlds: The Soulcatcher for after-midnight funk, disco and soul, B.Awesome for German hip-hop with a clear point of view, and Theo Nostos for Mediterranean deep house. Velvet Soul Society, Noah Keys, Elias Nocturne, Vincenzo Insieme and SIENTO complete the collective with soul and lounge, piano, cinematic music, Italian pop and Latin rhythms.
The artists are virtual characters: their images and videos are created with AI assistance and do not show real people. The music is made under human creative direction; depending on the track, contributions such as lyrics, vocals or instruments come in, and digital and AI-assisted tools are part of the production. Production details are documented per release as they are confirmed.
B · THE FOUNDER
Heyko Hollwedel
Founder · Producer · Creative director of Pocket Funk Collective
Heyko Hollwedel is the founder and creative director of Pocket Funk Collective, an independent music collective from Lübeck, Germany. Born in the 1960s, he grew up with seventies disco and soul, followed funk and P-Funk, was part of the early German b-boy scene in the eighties and has followed club and house culture ever since.
With Pocket Funk Collective he brings five decades of listening, dancing and producing into eight artist projects, from after-midnight funk to Mediterranean house and German hip-hop. He develops each project, makes the creative and musical decisions and uses digital and AI-assisted tools where they open up new possibilities.
What sets the collective apart: one lifelong musical memory behind every artist, distinct sound worlds instead of a single style, and an open approach to the technology involved.
The Soulcatcher is the funk heart of the collective: after-hours grooves, deep basslines and a hooded, faceless silhouette. The music moves between classic disco, soul and modern house. Songs such as Story of Studio 54 and Can You Feel It? were featured by Last Day Deaf in 2026; collaborations include SIENTO and Velvet Soul Society. Long soul and funk mixes run on the YouTube channel The Soulcatcher Vintage.
B.Awesome is German hip-hop with a calm, grown-up attitude: city nights, clear stories and lines about mindfulness, self-worth and living in the moment. Songs include Von oben sieht man leiser, Hamburger Jungs and Das Leben findet im Moment statt. The visual world is dark and elegant, in black and white with single warm lights.
Theo Nostos stands for Mediterranean deep house: warm nights, sea air and the pull of the dancefloor, from Ibiza to the Greek islands. Songs include Notte Fredda Italia with SIENTO, Ibiza Is Calling and No Phones on the Floor. Long deep house mixes run on the YouTube channel Ibiza Sunset Radio.
